Russia welcomes travelers from different countries for tourism, business, work or study purposes. If you are a citizen of Myanmar planning a trip to Russia, you should first learn how to travel to Russia legally and safely.
Do citizens of Myanmar need a visa to enter Russia?
Yes, they do.
Unless you are a holder or diplomatic or service passport, you have to get a Russian visa prior to your trip. Remember, that Russian visas aren’t issued when you arrive to the country on the border.
How and where to apply for a Russian visa? Which documents should I need? How much and how long will the process take? Find answers to these questions in this article. Let’s get started.

You can apply for a Russian visa not earlier than 3 months before your trip. After you have decided on the visa type, you can start preparing your documents. The list includes:
After you have prepared the necessary documents, you can apply for a visa at the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar.
All applicants undergo a fingerprinting procedure when they submit their documents for visa, so it’s essential to apply your documents in person.
The address is:
38 Zagawar Street, Dagon Township, Yangon

When you submit your documents for a visa you should pay the fees for the processing of your application. The amount of visa fee as of June 2020 is:
Visa type | Standard processing 4-20 working days | Urgent processing 1-3 working days |
Single entry | 80 $ | 160 $ |
Double entry | 128 $ | 256 $ |
Multiple entry | 240 $ | 480 $ |
Visa fees are non-refundable and paid only in USD during the submission of documents at the Consulate.
When the time comes to collect your passport back (you’ll be given the date when you apply), you should come to the Consulate again bringing your receipt of payment of the visa fees.
The visa is a stamp in your passport bearing the following information:
Check all details carefully, if you spot any mistakes you can apply for correction. If everything is fine, start packing your bags. I recommend you carrying your invitation from Russia in a copy of original with you to display at the migration control if requested.
When you arrive, take care of two more documents you’ll need during your visit:
When you pass migration control an officer will ask you to fill in the migration card (it can also be given out on board your plane, or found on the desks at the airport arrivals). This form is completed in pen with block letters in English or Russian. It has two identical parts and the one you give to the officer, while the other you keep and after your trip comes to an end – return on the border.
If you plan on staying in Russia over 7 working days, you’ll need to undergo such procedure as registration. Nothing to worry about, but as it is required by law, make sure the hotel which you booked provides you with one, or the owner of the apartment where you stay.
As both documents can be asked for by the police to prove your legal stay in Russia, it’s recommendable to carry them with you during the entire trip.
If you lose migration card – contact the local migration service office to get one. If you lose registration – ask your Russian host to get a duplicate.
